Hey guys!
For this post I would like to do something a little bit different… I would like to share some poetry! Poetry to me is a processing outlet when my mind feels discombobulated and murky. I don’t know about you, but my thoughts tend to be some uncharted territory.
Sometimes poetry just turns into venting, and in doing so God meets me and speaks. Sometimes I receive a word for the church, in which I share whether it’s convicting or encouraging. Sometimes there’s a concept on my mind that I can’t grasp, and as I write the wires uncross. God sometimes has already brought clarity to the topic, and in writing I can remember and share with others.
That being said, down below are three of my poems! In reading these I pray that God speaks to you personally, just as he has done with me.
How long?
How long will you walk before me using the legs I’ve created?
Made to stride in Eden, now bathed in sinfulness
I pity these nations who don’t seek my face
And cry day and night for the time of my bride
I desire obedience, much more than you are capable
Which is why I’ve had mercy and forgiven your wrongs.
And here you are, defining your own good and evil
Just as your ancestors did in that dry, dry desert.
One day I will come and judge all who mock me
Open their eyes to the truth and humble their pride
Can’t you see that you’re incapable of being your own gods?
Don’t you detect the deception seeping through the cracks?
Awaken, oh sleepers, before the real king comes
The clock is ticking and will run out.
And to you believers, I call you to a higher state than this
How dare you allow strife to enter your midst?
You proclaim my name, yet thrive in self-life
And live each day for your own pleasure.
My own people are instruments of the enemy’s disorder
Repelling the sick from the place they need most.
I know you hear me, but choose not to listen.
Stay settled in your furnished houses and “stable” jobs
It is time to get moving, soon there’s no turning back
Administer the cure, don’t hoard it among yourselves!
How long will you deny the power freely given to you?
How long will you underestimate who I Am?
Step up, be an example of my unfailing love
Mature and act like you are one of mine.
What you are
It’s you that’s freedom
Not Denominations
Not feelings and experience
Not upbringing
Not music type
Not lights and show
Not practices and traditions
Not knowldge and facts
Not spiritual gifts
Not calling or purpose
Not good works
Not “Christian” culture
Not a political party
Not cool hipster fits
Not worship nights
Not a small group
Not a church building
It’s a person.
It’s a persons.
It’s a people.
In a World
What is it like to live without sin?
A world without anxiety, grief, or pain.
A world where I don’t stay up late hours worrying
A one where I don’t work and strive in vain
I see a world where tiredness is overcome,
hypocrisy is not a fun game
The desires of my spirit will then be quenched
evil forces will be put to shame
I watch the birds freely flap their wings,
Living without a care in the world
Beings of instinct, creatures of habit
Carrying about solely what they’re told
I want to follow you with the same whole-heart
Stepping where only you lead
I want to live a life of complete transparency,
no longer assuming what’s best for me
I know this life is but inevitable,
but if only I continue in the truth.
I have heard I am purified of my fleshly nature, and my spirit can be fully renewed.
I have tasted this goodness and am craving much more
I will live as a vessel until that day
Until the sky opens and trumpets blow
Holy holy holy is what we will say
All anxiety will fade as we fall to our knees
This is the truth I hold dear.
This day is what our spirits long for
This day is what’s coming near.
